What is OYT?
Orthopedic Yoga Therapy is a threefold approach to pain-free movement and posture
YOGA TRAINING FOR STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILITY
As a foundational component to Orthopedic Yoga Therapy, we believe Yoga is critical throughout the healing process--it allows both guide and practitioner to truly feel into the movement of the body.
By developing a practice tailored specifically to you, we help create an understanding of where you are now, where you will be tomorrow, and hopefully, where you'll be for years to come.
We are here to help you--not only to produce range of motion and flexibility--but also in having the strength and stability for whatever life throws at you!
MANUAL THERAPY AND MYOFASCIAL RELEASE FOR JOINT MOBILITY AND RANGE OF MOTION.
Over our lifetime, the connective tissues in our body can shorten and tighten. Whether from injury, poor postural habits or, well, life, this shortening and tightening can end up restricting range of motion--possibly leading to compensations that generate pain or further injury.
Using the applications of hands-on therapy and myofascial release, our therapists are able to assess the sources of your pain and tightness, and then help soften and guide the tissue back to a place of mobility and ease.
NRF – NEUROMUSCULAR REFACILITATION FOR BALANCE & STABILITY BY WAY OF THE MIND-BODY CONNECTION.
In the presence of pain, the full capacity of our bodies inherent abilities can become limited.
This happens through no conscious fault of our own--it's that our bodies will work around our injuries and ailments to find a way to keep functioning. But when muscles stop doing their job-and other muscles try to step in and take over--we can be faced with a domino effect of recurrent issues.
This is where Neuromuscular Refacilitation comes in.
By isolating the area of injury and/or pain, and properly bringing awareness back to the muscles that have been side-stepped (through careful and calculated stretching), function, balance, and stability to the entire body can be restored.
